Paradigm

Once again, I lived the moment in this song. Although, I was watching my friend Sarah's daughter be "the girl, in a room full of women, licking stamps and laughing." Democracy brewing, indeed.

The election is in six days, and I'm riding the crazy train about it this time. Wish me luck.

Rock and Roll Problems

Some Hold Steady tracks have leaked, in advance of their May 4 release, "Heaven is Wherever", and upcoming tour (which I am missing the "local leg" this time around, for Wilco).

"Rock Problems". Sort of sounds like an outtake.

"Hurricane J". I know the male version of this character. At least, the title could arguably be the effect he had on my head.

"Hurricane J" is definitely the stronger of the tracks. I'm excited for the rest of the album. But then, it's The Hold Steady. It wouldn't be possible for me NOT to be excited for this one.

My Future Looks Black and Blue

I'm alive, I swear. My life can be categorized as semi-organized insanity right now. Work is busy, with MCAS and transition planning; it's election season, so every other night, it seems I'm out in the community, being "inappropriate". Oh, right. One of my colleagues on the board called me inappropriate for campaigning at after school functions. You know, where all the people who would vote for School Committee members would be on a random Tuesday. But I digress.

I really just want it to be April 6, as the election will be off of my plate then, and I can focus on the rest of my life. Like planning for Ireland. And my IRS audit (but, looking at the documentation, it's totally my bad, and I'm just going to set up the installment plan and be done with it).

So, a little Murder City Devils to tide you over until I get my head on straight again.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

An Irish Blessing, with music. I was sent this card as a preview of where I will be this July. So beautiful.

The Lorica of St. Patrick. For MJ, my favorite Irishman.

And, a little celebratory music for your evening festivities.

For Colleen and D

"I'd rather be your fool nowhere than go somewhere and be no one's..."

Happy both of them, and a ready sense of relief. Here's to you.

By Your Side

This is my nephew Ben's song. I remember when he was a toddler, just learning to walk. He would visit my mother's house, and she would play this album. He would hear this song, and waddle over to the table where the cd player sat, and hold onto the edge of the table, staring at the player, and bouncing his little bum up and down, "dancing"

Ben turns ten today, and I cannot believe he's gotten so big. It seems like yesterday he was bouncing to this song. He is growing into a really wonderful, funny, bright boy. But, he's no longer that little kid; he's getting an iPod for his birthday, and I bought him an iTunes gift certificate for his birthday. Yes, I'm going to be "that" aunt, happily.

So, happy birthday, Ben! Auntie Courtney loves you.
