Sunday Radio, or When Thoughts Collide
If you have an organ solo in your song, and you are not Deep Purple, you're prog rock.
If your lyrics reference phrases like 'truth negates', words with more than 5 syllables, or the color cerulean you're prog rock.
If your song doesn't end, or has movements, you're prog rock.
If your band is named after something foreign and hipster (Cairo, Mars Volta, infinity), you're prog rock.
If your album covers involve globes with things in them, space landscapes, or fractals, you're prog rock
If your song is played on a radio station that will also play Frank Zappa, you're prog rock.
If your song has a flute solo, you're prog rock.
If your drummer thinks Bonham was a pansy with his solos, you're prog rock.
If loading in the drum kit takes longer than the actual performance, you're prog rock.
If you have more synthesizers than hands, you're prog rock.
If you reference Tolkien, Robert Heinlen, Ursula K. LeGuin, or any mythology, you're prog rock.
(inspired by a selection from XM Satellite radio this morning: Angels and Rage, by the band Cairo)
