40 Years Ago Today...

Yeah, I know, me and every other blogger who's ever listened to a record before (yes I said record) is marking this occasion. But seriously, people. Go grab this and listen to it all day today. If you don't own it, stop reading, go out and buy it, and go home and listen to it.
This album is as fresh and unusual and groundbreaking today as it was on June 1, 1967. And I haven't even dropped any acid.
(Nowhere near my iTunes or audioblog account, either, so you'll just have to do what I tell you and listen to your own copy.) Rectified...

I've listened...but I figured there's nothing more that I can say about Sgt Pepper that everyone hasn't already said. And dang it, every oldies station in my area played it yesterday. Oddly...it's not one of my favorite Beatles albums. I'll take Rubber Soul or Revolver over it any day :)
Have a great weekend!
Yes, it's still a great album, 40 years later. But as Mistress of the Dark says, Revolver and Rubber Soul also hold up well all these years later. Considering the state of recording technology at the time, Revolver may be an even greater feat than Sgt. Pepper's. That isn't to take anything away from Sgt. Pepper's.

Whose fave Beatles album is still Abbey Road, with Sgt. Pepper's a close second, followed by Revolver, the White Album, Rubber Soul and Magical Mystery Tour. :)
