Oh, that sucks. I have had that happen. You just want to beat the hooligans over the head.
What is the point of smashing pumpkins???? They are a symbol of the holiday season... KIDS SUCK!

I heard a few hooligans in my driveway
last night, I was lucky enough to spook them before
they got to my daughter's prized pumpkin.
Back in the day my dad wired one to a car battery : )
Several years ago I had a pumpkin smashed and there were plenty of witnesses. The same kid later drove a bulldozer through a school being built.
