Celebrity Chefs, vol. 2

Courtney and Ted Allen
Originally uploaded by crau1971.
Today, Dale and I went to the Boston Wine Expo, where I had the pleasure of watching Ted Allen, my favorite Queer Eye guy and Iron Chef America judge, make truffles and drink Robert Mondavi. He's adorable in person.

It seems I'm working my way through the Iron Chef America cast, first with Morimoto last summer, and now judge Ted. Mario, Bobby, and Alton, beware...

As a Brit I don't know your chefs and we have way too many of our own, Maybe you know Nigella?

Ahhhh.... Ted Allen. Not only is he my fave Queer Eye judge, my favorite episodes of Top Chef are always the ones that he's coming on as the Guest Judge. He's smart & snarky and I like those traits in people.

I stalk Food Network chefs also. I ate lunch at Mesa once and Bobby Flay was conducting business. I wanted to steal his mail from the bar, but my wife wouldn't let me.

I have also eaten at two Mario Batali places. Babbo was way over-rated, but Lupa was very nice.

If I were to stalk a celebrity chef, it's probably be Paula Deen. I love the way she stuffs a turduckin.

I used to work on QE, and Ted was by far one of the nicest people there. I drove him home from set sometimes and we had the best conversations.

Do you stalk non-celebrity chefs, too?
I could use a fan club.

I actually met Alton at the National Science Teacher's Association convention in Dallas a few years ago - he's supremely cool, and not only knows a lot about food, but about SCIENCE too. This makes him a worthy human in my books.
