My, My, My, It's A Beautiful Day

Christopher and I were really, really lucky and were called for wait listed tickets to Colin Hay last night. He played this amazing club called The Carelton, and I wish I could airlift this club into Boston, as I have a long list of bands I'd love to see here. We got there about half an hour before he started, and we were seated with another couple, Nicolai and Jill, who were lovely and friendly, and the four of us really enjoyed our evening together.

Colin was, as always, amazing. Two notable moments: during "Down Under", which he has arranged to be a really sophisticated solo guitar number, Christopher turned to me and said, "I've been listening to this song half my life, and I had no idea it was such a magnificent, beautifully written song." Jill agreed. And, today's song, Beautiful World, made me cry. Because, mymymy, it IS a beautiful world.

Joy. Music. Fun people. Such a great time in Halifax; you've been wonderful. Off to the coast for some quieter times.

We're Older Now, The Light Is Dim

I think my eyes still hurt from all the crying I did last night at the Harry Potter movie. So pleased that they told the piece of the story I needed them to tell correctly in proper fashion, as I sat and sobbed as I watched it unfold in front of me. So moving, and beautiful.

15 theaters showing the same movie at 12:01 am. Wonder of the modern age. It was like being at a live rock concert; bathroom lines, anticipation, parking lot delays.

But the film. Oh, the film. So beautiful. I can't wait to see it again. This song was used in Deathly Hallows Part 1.

Every Street Light Reveals A Picture In A Verse

Several purposes to this song:
1. Make-up song from Saturday.
2. Interesting theme stolen from Michele's tumblr, a random song that is 4:18 minutes long.
3. One of my favorite R.E.M. albums of all time. There are few pop songs as stunning as this one, and filled with such nostalgia, and quiet joy. I simply adore it.

It's vacation week. I am trying to recharge and renew myself, and prepare for what will be a tumultuous end to my year. I deserve a quiet night, too.

The Kind of Beauty That Moves

This article is dedicated to my cousin, who asked me to do HER a favor the other day, and color MY hair, so that I "don't end up looking like a Smith College professor".

Hmm... to risk ending up looking like an intelligent, successful, and, when you read this article, attractive woman. Thanks, cuz, but, my hair is just fine.

Would you all not agree? ;)
